I had to go to Unitec last week to drop in my contract as I’m doing some work there for the rest of this semester. While I was there, I thought I’d have a look around — it was quite weird as I don’t know anyone there anymore! Anyway, while looking around I noticed an exhibition going up in Snow White gallery, and saw one of my old tutors — it turns out that issue five of Threaded Magazine is out now, and the launch for it was to be the following Monday, which was also the first day of my new job!
So, on Monday, after finishing work at the Hothouse I went along to have a look. The pages from the magazine were on the walls in one room, however they were pinned up as they’d been printed — four pages to a sheet, two of which were upside down! They did have multiple copies up though, so it wasn’t too difficult to have a good look, especially if you understand how imposition works! In the other room they had posters of the covers of the previous four issues, and a TV playing an interview with Kyra who runs the magazine as well as an animated showreel for the magazine.
There was food (which I didn’t pay much attention to), wine, and something that made me very happy — Red Bull!
The magazine is looking great as usual, and it was really interesting to see it displayed the way it was, you can tell how much work goes into producing each issue! And as always, it is super awesome to see work by and interviews with people I know! I believe the issue is out now, and I can’t wait to pick up a copy for myself so I can get a chance to read it without being surrounded by other people also trying to read it!
Tonight I’m going to what I think is an exhibition (haha, a friend of mine hooked Fiona and I up with tickets and I don’t think I was paying too much attention when Fiona first told me about it), so I will report back on that later!
